Pennsylvania eduroam Support Organization (PAeSO)
led by KINBER, in collaboration with KeystoneREN and AIU
While many higher education and research institutions in Pennsylvania already participate in eduroam, this PAeSO program will extend that access to over 500 K-12 schools, libraries, and museums across the Commonwealth.
Pennsylvania was selected as one of only three states to join the K-12 global Wi-Fi program in 2025. We are excited to connect even more Pennsylvania educators and learners with secure, anywhere, anytime wireless access at all participating educational sites in the state and at other eduroam-participating sites throughout the U.S. and other countries.
What is eduroam?
eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.
It allows students, faculty, and staff from participating learning institutions to roam on Wi-Fi and connect to the internet at any eduroam location, simply by opening their computers. Using your school credentials, you can connect to Wi-Fi at any eduroam location without needing to log in again after the initial setup. eduroam has 2,500 participating locations in the US, and more than 33,000 locations worldwide.

Ease of Use
With millions of access points and hundreds of participating institutions already, the eduroam system provides ready access to the Internet for learning. It allows students, teachers, and professors to log in to participating networks with the username and password from their school or college — no need to create a separate account for each network.
Connect safely and protect your Wi-Fi. Students trust eduroam access points, and schools can offer education-only access, even to visitors. Requests to join other networks are securely sent back to the user’s home school.
Reports can be individually generated and provided to participating institutions, which include a summary of eduroam use local to your campus and help show where your users roam.
Students and faculty can automatically log into any eduroam access point. For schools, using eduroam removes the administrative burden of providing and managing guest access.
Use Cases:
Learner
Students with eduroam configured at school can visit neighboring institutions or community anchors and connect to a secure Wi-Fi network.
Educator
Faculty visiting neighboring schools for professional development or continuing education credits can safely connect using their “home” credentials.
Student teachers visiting K-12 schools from colleges and universities can use their current credentials to connect anywhere.
Community
No more scrambling for guest network credentials or lost time trying to figure out how to connect. With eduroam, users connect using their “home” institution credentials.
Getting Technical Support
End-user support for eduroam is the responsibility of the user’s home organization’s IT support, as most eduroam connection issues tend to be due to expired credentials or misconfigured client wireless settings.
Support for the eduroam service itself is generally community-driven, with a variety of public resources and mailing lists made available to eduroam administrators throughout the global eduroam community.
